1月22日 Wow - by ToriI can't believe that I haven't been posting on a daily basis!
So much for my plan of not eating refined sugar and added sodium. I've been eating bits of that hidden sugar from salad dressing and sodium in soups. But what I really noticed was when i ate those chips and the pasta. My body just does not agree with those bad carbs. I do great with rice and potatoes but tortillas, pasta, chips... my body screams VIVA LA REVOLUCION!!
The workouts are going well but I still can't explain my mysterious 2 mile foot numbing. My chiropractor diagnosed me with flat feet which seems to have aggravated my patellafemoral syndrome (my knees don't track correctly). Thus, my knees lock up in seated positions or when I'm asleep (that hurts like a mofo when trying to straighten knees in ones sleep) and "pop" when I run or walk up/down stairs. So at 2 miles of jogging/walking my feet start to numb. I'm wondering if it's anything like carpal tunnel, only it affects the nerve in my ankle/arch instead of my wrist.
So today I walked. And I paid attention to HOW I walked. I walk on the outter edge of my feet. When I walk/jog, I try to do it ball to heel but then my arch cramps up, then my toes go numb, then my whole foot numbs and eventually I feel like I've got rocks in my shoes. And my left side is worse than my right which makes sense because my left knee cracks more than my right. At the end of my 2.5 mile walk I noticed slight achiness in my left arch and the feeling that my toes wanted to go numb but I kept walking on the outside of my foot and my toes never went numb.
All in all, I'm still not sure which caused what - the random knee issues since I was a teenager caused the non use of my feet which lead to a flattening arch; or did the flat feet generate all my issues, including the sometimes cracking ankles and hips? I swear I am not a joint cracker - that crap skeeves me out.
I've got an appointmet in orthopedics on Feb. 11. I really want a pair of medically issued orthotics. I spoke with the benefits dept. through my health insurance and they said that they discourage orthotics and that I have to have a medical reason to get a prescription for them. Gee - does the fact that you can SEE my mis-tracking patella on the x-ray count for a "medical reason"? We'll let my doc decide.

P.S. I'm going to sign up for a 10 k in my city and a Tri for Fun Triathalon - it's short with 400 yd swim, 11 mile bike ride, and 3.1 mile run. 评论 (1)
